Epoxy is a substance used to attempt to stop or slow down the original porblem with hacked VCII modules. This is not the case at all! All epoxy does is slow everyone down who's going to modify their boards, some people simply chip away at it, but most will heat it up and remove it in this fashion. Some people have reported using an Xacto knife to do the removal, unless you are careful and have done alot of boards, this may not be recommended since it can damage your board very quickly and easily! When it comes to Epoxy, heat is your friend! Using a heat gun and a hard piece of plastic to lift the epoxy in chunks is the safest way to do the removal if it's your first time. Using an xacto knife or anything metal can cause a problem, if you still have the battery soldered to the board to reduce the risk of shorting out pins in the ICs under the epoxy simply lift or cut one side of the battery and you no longer have anything to worry about. The other problem with using anything metal is it will lift or 'cut' traces in the circuit board very easily! You've been warned! Now let's look at some pictures.
